Paradorn Srichaphan defeated France's Cyril Saulnier 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-5) at the Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven. He will play either Thomas Zib or David Ferrer in the last eight.
Sania enters quarterfinals....
Third-seed Sania Mirza has reached the quarterfinals of the $75,000 Forest Hills Women's Classic here. She made it to the last eight stage with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win over 59th-ranked Shahar Peer of Israel in a first-round match.

The West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills will play host to a 16-draw Tier IV tuneup for the US Open. Japan's Akiko Morigami holding the event's top seed. The 25-year-old from Tokyo will look to continue her recent hard court success, which included her first career final in Cincinnati and a Tier I semifinal performance at San Diego

Asian number one Paradorn Srichaphan showed steely nerves to dispatch Cyril Saulnier 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-5) in the second round of the ATP Pilot Pen tournament.
Despite two first round losses at the Cincinnati and Montreal Masters Series events, the 26-year-old has reached the quarter-finals of three events in the lead up to the US Open.
“For some reason, everything clicks when I play in the summer here in the US,” said Srichaphan.
“I always enjoy the hot weather which reminds me of Thailand. I also feel comfortable on these hardcourts which I grew up on."
Srichaphan now faces either third seed David Ferrer or Thomas Zib in the last eight. |

At the same time I would like you to imagine a situation where this player was provided with the financial support provided to Ms. Mirza, If someone would have gone out of the way to secure wildcards for her in Grandslam events, I mean promote and hype her the way Sania was done........ Sania got a GVK sponsorship in the year 2000, Did Mr.GVK knew that an Indian player who was far more better than Sania existed and deserved his sponsorship more than Sania?. Then ?????????? it's possible !!!!!!!!!!!!. I leave it your your imagination

Vijay Amritraj - A true Indian Tennis Icon
Vijay Amritraj a tennis player whose achievements are legendary..... an unasuming and simple man from my experiance of being with him in Thailand, when you meet him its hard to believe that HE has been a trail blazer, a person who has excelled in everything he did, whether it was tennis or his production company. It was a dream come true for me because I had grown up watching his exploits on the tennis court.
Though his achievements are known the world over I feel most of the Indian's are not aware of it.
I have listed a few of his achievements to remind Indian's of this " GREAT SPORTSMAN "
At times I wonder why the media did not give him 10% of the coverage which is now given to Sania.
